Clear thinking for better decision making

As a former CEO I am uniquely qualified to provide executive coaching and mentoring supporting you through professional change, business challenges, and complex problems.

Coach

Helping you gain the tools you need to find focus and clarity, and become a more effective leader.

Mentor

Providing practical advice and support to leaders in the arts, heritage and education sectors.

Consultant

Offering consultancy and training to help organisations learn and grow.

I can’t rate Shirley highly enough. I looked forward to all of our sessions very much and found her approach to be sensitive, honest, intelligent and insightful.

Executive Coaching Services

Are you a professional, looking to develop your career? Having done this myself as a CEO in the public sector, I know how much I gained from executive coaching.

When we find ourselves in changing circumstances, we try to figure out how to respond and adapt to the new situation. Often, this process isn’t very structured, and only takes place in our heads. The problem with figuring things out in our heads is that it can be easy to make mistakes without realising it – we don’t rely on mental arithmetic for important financial decisions for the same reason!

It can be a challenge to organise your thoughts, understand how they connect, and use them to make the right decisions. You might lose track, skim over important parts and dive into making changes too quickly, or you might get bogged down and struggle to turn your thoughts into action.

As your coach, I take on the role of your thinking partner.

In our executive coaching sessions I’ll help you work through periods of change and make your thinking process as productive as possible.

As your coach, I take on the role of your thinking partner.

In our executive coaching sessions I’ll help you work through periods of change and make your thinking process as productive as possible.

I’ll work with you to turn thoughts and feelings into words, helping you to focus by challenging what you’re including in your thinking and what you’re leaving out, or presenting an outside perspective to help you gain more clarity on your situation.

If your current experiences closely mirror my own professional path, I also provide mentoring support, sharing direct insights and advice over and above the more neutral approach I take as an executive coach.

For businesses, I offer a range of consultancy services, applying my expertise in the heritage sector and with learning and development to help your organisation, and the people in it, grow and thrive.

More importantly than providing solutions, Shirley creates an environment of trust which enables me to talk openly about my own fears and expectations. I often find that by asking the right questions of me, Shirley can encourage me to talk myself into the solution of a difficult problem or challenge.
